Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Palestine - Security Council Media Stakeout | United Nations
The challenges are immense, especially as Israel accelerates its military actions against the Palestinians. These actions have prompted the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to speak out at the United Nations stakeout, condemning Israel’s actions and calling for urgent measures to save Palestine, stop the war, and reach a settlement based on the two-state solution — with Al-Quds as the capital of Palestine.

Gideon Sa’ar have been vocal on the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks.
Danny Danon and Gideon Sa’ar on the Situation in Palestine – UN Reactions Israeli leaders Danny Danon and Gideon Sa’ar have been vocal on the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks. Both have emphasized that the hostages taken on that day must not be forgotten, and have called for their immediate and unconditional release. Speaking at multiple UN Security Council media stakeouts, Danny Danon has consistently highlighted the suffering of Israeli families, pointing out the silence of international bodies on the plight of the hostages. On the anniversary of the attacks, Danon said: “This day marks Israel’s worst nightmare. We demand the world stand with us in calling for the immediate release of our hostages, many of whom are still in Hamas captivity.” He has accused the UN of focusing disproportionately on Gaza’s humanitarian crisis while ignoring Israeli victims. Gideon Sa’ar, meanwhile, has reinforced this stance in political and diplomatic settings, stating that peace cannot be discussed while innocent civilians remain in captivity. Sa’ar continues to reject international pressure for one-sided concessions and has stressed the moral imperative to bring the hostages home before any further negotiation. Their message is clear: the world must remember October 7—not just as an Israeli tragedy, but as a continuing crisis that demands immediate global action.

Plastic Pollution: A Silent Death to Our Oceans and Future
At today’s United Nations Press Briefing, a chilling statement echoed through the room: “Plastic pollution is the silent death creeping through our oceans and society.” Though brief, these words carried a weight that cannot be ignored—a stark reminder of the growing environmental crisis that threatens not just marine ecosystems, but the very future of human civilization.
Every year, over 11 million metric tons of plastic enter our oceans, poisoning marine life, disrupting food chains, and infiltrating the water we drink and the air we breathe. What was once considered a convenient material has now become one of the greatest environmental threats of our time. The long-term impact of plastic waste is staggering—it takes centuries to decompose, and even then, it breaks down into microplastics that never truly disappear.
The consequences of inaction are dire. Future generations may inherit oceans barren of life, coastlines littered with waste, and health systems strained by pollution-related diseases. The UN’s warning is clear: we are at a tipping point.
Plastic pollution is not just an environmental issue; it is a social, economic, and moral crisis. The time to act is now—before silence becomes irreversible.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres recently spoke to journalists at the UN Headquarters, emphasizing the vital role the media plays in shaping global awareness and advancing the work of the United Nations. In his remarks, he highlighted that journalists are not just observers, but active participants in informing the world about the crises, challenges, and humanitarian needs facing our planet today.
Guterres stressed that the media helps give voice to the voiceless, shine a light on suffering, and bring attention to conflicts, displacement, climate change, poverty, and inequality. He noted that many of the world’s most urgent issues remain hidden or misunderstood without accurate, timely, and courageous reporting. Journalists, he said, have the power to hold institutions accountable and to make distant stories feel close and personal to audiences around the world.
He also acknowledged the risks journalists face in the line of duty, especially those reporting from conflict zones or under repressive conditions. Guterres called for the protection of press freedom and the safety of all media professionals.
In conclusion, the Secretary-General urged continued collaboration between the United Nations and the press, stating that the media is essential in helping the UN engage the public, mobilize support, and promote peace, justice, and human dignity.
